About Us

Myopia Hunt Club
The Bay State Seniors Golf Association was founded on March 4, 1961 at Brae Burn Country Club, with 87 prominent Massachusetts golfers from across the State. The first annual tournament was held in June of that year at Tedesco Country Club. From then on, under the guidance of the founding fathers, the Bay State Seniors has grown into a unique organization. The present membership is dedicated to continuing the tradition of the past "Congenial Golf and Dinner Gatherings" long into the future.

The BSSGA is made up of active members and members emeritus from the top clubs in Massachusetts. Each year the inaugural event is the two-day "Annual Meeting," which is usually held on Cape Cod at the Wianno Club, plus either Oyster Harbors or the Hyannisport Club. The schedule includes two days of golf plus cocktails and dinner each evening, along with a short business meeting. The "Fulton" and "Mixed Flowers" are one-day events, usually held in July and August. The final event is the "Fall Swat," a two-day event in September.

There are six "Team Matches," which involve twelve BSSGA men competing against our neighboring New England States. The first match is against the seniors from Connecticut, then off to Rhode Island, and finally to Vermont. Two matches will be played amongst BSSGA members, including "East vs. West" and "North vs. South." The final team match will be the "Tri-State Medal" match pairing BSSGA against Rhode Island and Connecticut seniors in one contest.
